Recently, our customer put forward a new demand, in a chemical plant, the power factor is very low, according to the site conditions, we installed a wall-mounted SVG product of our company, after the equipment was put into use, the use effect is good. According to the customer’s feedback, our SVG products are basically running close to full capacity, and there is still a certain amount of harmonics to be controlled on site.
Based on customer feedback, our technical team actively understands customer needs and provides new solutions for customers, taking the mode of connecting two SVGS in parallel. On the basis of increasing the power factor of the system to 0.995, the harmonics on the grid are filtered out at the same time.
As we all know power quality is not an isolated conception. In power system, power quality may include current&voltage two sides. Current power quality problems include current harmonics, reactive power and unbalance, voltage power quality problems include voltage harmonics, voltage sag, voltage interruption, overvoltage, undervoltage and other problems.
The criteria for evaluating power quality mainly include the following aspects:
Voltage deviation: refers to the deviation between the actual voltage and the ideal voltage, reflecting whether the electric energy supplied by the power supply enterprise to the user is qualified. The deviation here should be generalized, including amplitude, waveform and phase-2.
Frequency fluctuation: When the power system is operating normally, the system frequency should be kept near the rated value, and the allowable frequency deviation range is usually ±0.2Hz. Excessive frequency fluctuation will affect the speed and efficiency of the motor, as well as the normal operation of some frequency-sensitive electronic equipment1.
Harmonic content: Nonlinear electrical equipment will produce harmonics, which will pollute the power grid, increase the power supply loss of the power grid, and interfere with the normal operation of the protection device and automation device of the power grid. High harmonic content can lead to distortion of voltage waveform, additional loss and heating of equipment, and may even damage equipment 1.
Voltage fluctuation and flicker: Voltage fluctuation refers to the slow change of the root mean square value of voltage, and flicker refers to the flicker phenomenon caused by voltage fluctuation. These will affect the normal operation of lighting and some sensitive equipment1.
Three-phase imbalance: Power systems usually use three-phase three-wire power supply, and the ideal condition is that three-phase voltage and current are completely symmetrical. But in fact, due to various factors may lead to three-phase imbalance, which will also affect the power quality.
